Ghost Faces

Many ˜primitive civilizations’ used cowry shells as a medium of exchange. Over 2000 years ago, the Chinese produced these tiny bronze ˜imitations’. The concept of money was so new that they stamped Bei (shell) on it. As always, they convey the most emotions when corroded and evolved through time. They are often found in graves to pay passage to the next world. They belong to my fascination with masks as the embodiment of ancient spirits. They come back to haunt our collective memory much like Munch’s Scream.
